I sell/buy a lot:

only accept paypal. that's it! if buyers beg for other
forms of payment, tell them nope, sorry. not only are
all types of checks easy to fake, but money orders &
cashiers checks can have the funds "pulled" buy the
issuer!

always ship w/tracking number, so BOTH parties can
track. if selling, await feedback until package has
arrived. ups/fedex only, basically.

write explicit rules in your listing. be anal. real
buyers will have no problem following your rules.

ebay's always buyer beware--just don't forget the
beware part!! ;)
