You can use 90W, Al.  You really don't need the multi-viscosity oil since
your climate is temperate.  However, I am a believer in the use of synthetic
gear oil, and that typically comes in 75W90 or 75W140.  You don't need the
latter, in my opinion.  Does the owner's manual call for GL-4 or GL-5?
