The fill spot is a screwed in plug on the side of the transmission oil 
pan.  The level testing procedure requires a VAG scantool (or a Rosstech 
VAG-COM).  There is a hot climate adjustment to the fill level which is 
noted in the Bentley.  The Bentley says that "problems" may result from 
an overfilled tranny, though I don't speak from experience, just the 
Bentley.  The hot climate adjustment results in a slightly reduced 
tranny fill.

I don't know how critical this is, as compared to the Goo2000, but the 
Bentley says to use Audi fluid as they discontinued the use of Dexron 
after M.Y. '94.
