George:
Bio isn't circumventing the feds Home OIl to road use. Its an alternative.
#2 home heating oil is for indoor tanks kept above 40F or so so the fuel
won't gell.
Cheating the road tax diesel, by using dyed (red or a color for ID) home
heating Oil IS what the FEDs Don't want.
However, if you choose to try and beat the system an engine mechanic can see
the dye and possibly make a find fee turning you in.
HOWEVER: Using Home Oil in the winter will most certanly strand you. The
fuel WILL gell in a hash auto (COLD) environment. Only cutting it with Kero or
auto blended diesel MAY keep the game going on for someone.........
I cut #2 with Kero in hating my home. The tanks are "underground" in a
unfinished basement unheated.

I used to be very moralistic about this, people using off road fuel for road
travel thus cheating the government of taxes to maintain the roads, but I've
seen enough government cheating and mismanagement to not care much anymore. If
I personally can save a bit of the environment by diverting this Waste
Vegetable Oil (WVO) from the landfills, reduce the green house gasses, and
save some money, then I'll do it. I may even save the government money by not
asking for a subsidy to use WVO instead of gasoline and helping them reach
their Kyoto goals. ;-)
Cheers
George
