89 200q door locks clicking

I've recently had 3 doors open/apart to fix 3 different problems on my 89 200q.

Driver's door, linkage came loose due to retaining clip broken off. Zip-tied it back
together.
Passenger side front door, pot metal locking lever broke. Replaced with updated parts.
Driver's side rear door, lock button linkage broke in two places. Replaced broken plastic
pivot piece with bolt, nut, and Loctite. Repaired other broken part of linkage with
zip-tie and duct tape. Yeehaw!

Anyway, the issue is that all 3 doors after the repair have a click in the lock mechanism
itself when the door is locked either manually or automatically. The driver's door only
did it a few times and then quit. The other 2 seem to be persistent, although I just did
the rear door tonight.

The click emanates from the lock mechanism box on the back end of the door. If I release
the inside pull from the cable, it won't do it. As soon as I get it back together which
involves pulling on the release cable to attach it to the pull handle and then get that
mounted back in the door, the click happens.

It's not any of the linkages, it's in the latch/lock box itself. Lubrication doesn't seem
to have any impact.

Just curious.
