window motor- internal "gearbox" jam?

The spool/spindle should lift straight up. There is a worm gear with 3 or
4 tangs that engage it underneath and they are coupled by rubber pads. You
may want to wire the cable guides to the back of the case to prevent them
from popping out. If the cables are too tight to deal with, you can pop
out one of the cable guides to release the tension.
