5KTQ: R&R fuel pump

Once you remove the cover in the trunk (two or three Phillips head screws,
I believe), you'll encounter the plastic top sealing the opening into the
tank, held in place by that ring. You want to undo the electric
connections and disconnect the supply and return fuel lines from the top
before you remove the ring. You'll need the nonsparking stick/rod/punch
and hammer to loosen the ring. When you lift off the cover, you'll also be
extracting the fairly fragile fuel level sending unit, which has two
longish arms and takes a bit of care to remove gently. Part way out you'll
get to the end of the flexible line from the pump to the bottom of the tank
top. You'll need to undo a hose clamp. Pay attention that you don't lose
the large O-ring that seals the lid to the tank.
