Wow
thanks for the help guys.
brady ad louis-alain suggested that the mailing list
might dig up some
useful info and i guess that that was an
understatement
in summary we have.
turbo to intercooler hose with damper / silencer
bellows at the
intercooler end appears to be NLA
the replacement hose without the damper is available,
if a bit pricey.
since the rubber bit inside the damper has a tendency
to migrate into
the intercooler
remove this anyway, and either fashion a joint with a
bit of suitable
hose from a hydraulics shop, or
get the credit card out.
Electric windows at the rear,
well I had pulled back the bellows on the drivers door
to have a look
before my first mail and everything looked ok
i pulled back the door end and it seems that someone
has had a bit of a
'crimpothon' in there.
I'll pull it all apart on the weekend.
unfortunately it wasn't a piece of loose change in the
rear cigarette
lighter (or is it a cigar lighter in the audi)
good call though. i didn't realise that they were on
the same circuit
until now. makes sense though.
i also have some useful advice regarding the ABS, but
that figures some
way below the boost leak
and electrical gremlin, cos the brakes work fine, Mrs
L (who drives the
car) is used to not having ABS
and i'm probably going to have to pull quite a few
things apart to find
the fault.
Plus i have yet to ask Louis-Alain if i can use his
driveway (maybe he
worked that out before me,
which is why he tells me it's not very important ;-)
)
Once again, many thanks to everyone for all the help
next time i'll endeavour to cc my replies to the
mailinglist instead of
sending individual responses!
I'll let you guys know when i wade into the ABS and
replacing the blower
motor and heater core.
for the moment i'm going to have to concentrate on
getting the company
annual report out b4 the deadline
thanks again

It's the flexible link
