Cabriolet Top Stopped working

The top on my '94 cabriolet recently stopped working. It went through a
period where it just seemed to be stalling and straining to put the top up
and down. Now, when I hit the switch the top doesn't move at all. If the car
is in gear and I push the switch the warning light on the dash comes on. 

My guess at the moment is that the motor died, but before I get into it too
much, thought I'd check to see if anyone else had any suggestions.
