You -really- don't want to use this kind of stuff on your paint.  See  
my post yesterday around noon-ish EST.

Much of the cost is the porter-cable buffer, which you can skip...but  
if you can afford the $120, you'll be amazed at how much easier it  
makes things.  It is especially fast if the car is completely clean  
from the clay-bar step, as you don't have to clean the pad (as  
much.)  A vecro backing pad and 2-3 foam pads are a worthwhile  
investment as well.

The clay-bar step is a HUGE time-saver (it is MUCH faster to clay-bar  
off debris than to sit there rubbing it off with an abrasive  
compound, and is MUCH less destructive to the paint) and I strongly  
recommend it NOT be skipped.  Just make sure you wash the car  
thoroughly before using the clay bar, as you want to remove as much  
dirt as possible first.
