I've heard some early 5k cars had some sort of coating inside the tanks
that caused problems with pumps. My 200q20v had a steel tank that looked
like shiny steel on the inside, but rusted through from the outside at the
seam and leaked. The tank from an S4 I bought to replace my leaker looked
identical inside.
