C'mon guys, where's your *spirit*??? ;) Sure, there are a lot of common
problem areas, but many of the ones Doyt mentions are similar to the
problems that lots of older cars encounter. And many of them are things
that a savvy owner takes care of with lubrication, and a little regular
maintenance. Ever tried maintaining a good boat? Or an airplane? Or an
older house, for that matter? Now I know why one of my favorite movies was
"The Money Pit" with Tom Hanks.
I can say with confidence that my Audi Experience has saved my family tens
of thousands of dollars over the years. Any new Audi owner should take
Doyt's list of problems as the compliation of a long-suffering enthusiast.
;) My maintenance strategy now is focused on prevention and remediation,
and tackling several jobs at once to get them out of the way for extended
periods of time.
Having said that, I never would have been able to keep my cars running well
without Audifans. I consider myself one of the members of the Audi
Reserves: "One Weekend A Month, And Two Weeks A Year." Not even that much
if you do a little planning. Maybe one weekend a season. ;)
