7a and CIS?

I think you have hit on the big potential problem - timing.

Fuel should be fine, the stock CIS works on unboosted turbo engines ok
(ie, good for at least 160 hp, which is the 7A)

But if there are discrepancies in the timing map, they will show up as
driveability/power problems.

I'd also be concerned (couldn't find a CQ engine bay photo to check)
about mechanical fitment issues - things like TB attachments, intake
plumbing in general.

It sounds like a nice idea, the swap that is, how bad would it be,
really, to also swap the rest of the "stuff"? You're going to have
empty engine bays in both the donor & recip. cars at some point, so
getting the harnesses and other related hardware out shouldn't be too
too hard.

Oh yes, one other little thing that might require work - the 7A fits the
type 89 engine bay, in terms of auxiliary device placement. Some of
these things might need to be fabbed or modified to fit the type 85 bay
nicely.

At least, as far as I understand, the simpler PS pump will bolt up ok to
the 7A. Hopefully there is an easy place to grab intake vacuum to run
the brakes.
