Mounting of aftermarket oiltempgauge (and running wo alternator)

That is where the factory sender goes.  In the bottom of the oil pump. 
(in the I-5, anyway)

You will probably want to get a spare screw plug for the hole, and drill 
and tap it to fit your sender.  (I say a spare, so if it takes a few 
tries, you still have a good one to seal things up)
