The commutator is built up on a shaft, as I understand it. There's a
bushing on the commutator end of the shaft, I believe. The other end,
where the squirrel cage attaches, has a bearing, if I understood the Bosch
repair guy. He indicated both would be replaceable except mine had so much
shaft wear the new bearing surfaces wouldn't last long.
Like Cobram says, access is such a PITA that a new replacement seems the
better choice.
