enough to a A4 and other Audi products to be on the
list. Besides, it is a generic question about VAG
transmission choices in a new car.
I have narrowed other parameters down well enough to
have it boil down to this last question: Stick or
Tiptronic?
Bill, you don't mention whether you're going for the 2.0T or 3.6 (it's 3.6 now, right?)... If I were going for the 2.0T I'd stick with the stick ;-) If I didn't plan to keep the car forever, I'd probably go with the Tip, simply because it'd probably be easier to sell. Personally, I'd go with the stick regardless, as that's what I prefer. As far as reliability issues, the only time I've heard of folks blowing one up is when they chip the engine to an extreme. Like everything else, if you care for it (which you obviously will) it should be fine.
Side note: I like the looks of the new Passat. Not crazy abut the new Jetta - too Japanese-looking for me - but the new Passat is very Euro-edgy.
