I also see this as another way of denying warranty claims in the future, as
we've seen with the 1.8t oil sludge issue.
Make service mandatory, but don't pay for it. Then, when the customer does
it themselves or goes to an independent who may not do EVERY item on the
checklist, deny a subsequent warranty claim and/or make the customer jump
through hoops to prove they had the work done.
Of course, with the competition all dropping their all-inclusive programs
(save BMW), why did Audi have to keep it? It was ONLY one of the reasons
they came back from the dead in the 1990's, after all....
