Cracking the Safe code - Wiesbaden Radio

I had contacted the dealer - said they could get me the code if I gave them
the SN to the radio and of the car it was going into. I decided to try the
procedure - 1111 unlocked the radio immediately. If I had no success with
that or 0000 or 1234 then I would have tried the dealer. It seems it was
more up to the customer to change the code originally, and so a lot of these
were left with the default (1111).

My understanding is six tries and the radio is disabled permanently. I
suspect one could ZAP the units volatile memory - some circuits do this by
connecting the positive and ground with no battery connected or reversing
polarity using a 9V cell. The latter seems kind of risky. Perhaps someone
has a good idea what exactly would work. It does not make sense that they
would allow this to render a perfectly good radio usless permanently. I
would also think that if it had been sitting for long enough - such as been
used for a book holder or doorstop, then the volatile memory may have become
erased on its own.

This thread motivated me to energize the doorstop Wiesbaden and see if it
would accept codes. Won't go out of safe mode, any dongle around the "six
try and I die" feature?
