Life of electrical bits? (was: Strange Shuddering)

   My 4kq has recently begun to misfire a bit, and I'm pretty sure that it's 
electrical in my case.  I put new plugs/cap/rotor/wires into it about 
35k/3.5 years ago; how long does that stuff last in your collective wisdom?

   I'll confess up front I've not done any real diagnostic on it; scuffed up 
the contacts in the cap and on the rotor and didn't get any joy.
