cable ends like that, but strong hands and a big pair of vise grips work 
fairly well.  Home Depot or some specialty hardwear store should have a 
pretty good assortment of those things that would be about the right size.  
I've actually had decent experience with replacing the entire cable with a 
large bike brake cable, if your cable is deformed at all too.
