I think crimping would be preferred here.  I think a bare metal crimp, then 
a piece of heat shrink tubing over the whole thing would work best of 
all.  Solder joints have a nasty habit of breaking over time in a moving, 
vibrating situation (can you say type 44 throttle switch?)
