Hmmmmm, I'd believe you Huw, you'd know.

I have the cable bowed and on top of my fender on the 200.  The cable pulls 
in towards the center of the car like the "slack" was taken out when the levers 
pulled.  I figured the pull force of the inner wire was being defeated by the 
whole cable moving.
So the caulk idea was to hold the sheathing still so just the wrie did its 
job.  not a good idea?
