Seeding, in the simplest sense, is giving back to your peers who're
downloading the same file.  Basically, for every byte of the file
you've downloaded successfully, you can "seed" (upload) those bytes to
other peers.  All this happens automatically, of course (with a good
client, like uTorrent).
Other filesharing technologies require you to finish downloading the
file before you can share it with others.  Bit Torrent technology is
much more efficient as it allows many users to seed the same file and
combine the bandwidth, making it faster for the other downloaders.
