i know theres that sludge concern, but lets pretend thats been taken care of, synthetic oil, good owner etc.
I'm also curious about other concerns between models, i love my V6's, but the 1.8t is cheaper...
Evan, the sludge issue is pretty much an owner-caused issue, in my view. Those owners that believed Audi's 10k oil-and-filter change intervals using dino oil (along with a small oil filter) had issues, not those of us that adhered to a 3-to-5k interval with synthetic. The change to a slightly larger oil filter helped as well. The issue that I have heard about with the 2.8L V6 is oil leakage from various points (a topic I am very well versed on as I also own old British sports cars). So, I would personally rather have a well-maintained 1.8T than a well-maintained 2.8L V6 which could start leaking through no fault of my own!
