Turbos are delicate. They will go before an engine.
Both are fundamentally very durable engines if maintained and 
lubricated.
But fundamentally the same force over more area means the v6 will last 
longer (less stressed)

That said 1.8s should give excellent life, maybe eat a turbo, are 
cheaper to maintain (t-belts), use less gas, and can be more easily 
hot-rodded.
