I would agree even the later 30v v6 cars leaked oil, rocker cover gaskets being a major culprit.

Those owners that believed Audi's 10k oil-and-filter change intervals  using dino oil (along with a small oil filter) had issues, not those of  us that adhered to a 3-to-5k interval with synthetic. The change to a  slightly larger oil filter helped as well. The issue that I have heard  about with the 2.8L V6 is oil leakage from various points (a topic I am  very well versed on as I also own old British sports cars). So, I would  personally rather have a well-maintained 1.8T than a well-maintained  2.8L V6 which could start leaking through no fault of my own!
