Importing an Audi from Canada - Audi USA not helping

I tried to get my letter from Audi and they told me I had to do all this 
BS with the NHTSA and the Secretary of State and get an RI,...

I know I don't need all that, I just need a letter from Audi telling me 
what will not meet the US standards.

The car is old enough (built before 9/89) that an airbag is not required 
so it is just down to lighting and instrumentation.  Both of which can 
easily be fixed.

Any idea who I can contact to get this letter?   I slammed the phone 
down using a few vulgar words so I am not so sure Audi USA will be 
helping me.  Can I get this done at a dealer.

Any BTDT?
