Impact Wrench Recommendations

I agree, I never use an impact gun for tightening fasteners, but then
again, that's the existing mechanism.  What if you drove the impact
mechanism differently?  For example, pulling the trigger on the gun lets air
in that actually drives a geartrain that energises an electrical circuit
that *then* applies a metered amount of force through a really durable
solenoid?  It seems to me that you could get that solenoid to tap as lightly
or as hard as you need.  Just skylarking, here....
