Impact Wrench Recommendations

I bought an air impact gun setup for the reason that not only do I get
to put down the bolts like I have gorilla claws, but all the other air
tools work awesome, require very little maintenece, and are all
practically bullet proof.

I use air tools for basically everything in the car.

I have an air ratchet for putting on most bolts, the big impact gun for
wheel hubs and stuff, a little impact gun for compact spots (suspension
parts especially good with this one), an air tin-snip for cutting steel,
an air riveter for riveting floor pans and stuff, an air screw driver
for screws, and air hammer for nails on the house, an air chisel for
cutting big pieces of metal (frame up restoration anyone? And tons more.
The tools are all dirt cheap, and last forever with a little oil in the
lines.

There are air tools for every operation you want to do. If you have the
right tool for the job, you can do it. A huge impact gun isn't what you
want to use for torqing down bolts electric or not.

Regarding lug bolt installation, I've learned I want to know I can turn
the
bolt in fully by hand and then apply the torque wrench. I had two bolts
break off in place that were turned in by wrench "until snug" and then
tightened with the torque wrench. I think both of them were in
obstructed
holes. So now, if I can't turn the bolt in by hand, I get out a tap and
clean the holes completely. As a matter of practice, I now run the tap
through all the holes and wire brush all the bolts when I switch from
winter to summer tires on all our quattro cars. I'm not switching tires
for pay, so I'm not in such a rush to reinstall the fasteners that I
can't
take time to keep threads in top shape.
