5000 CSQT high RPM idle

Most probably the AC system needs recharging and is not pulling a normal load.
Idle compensation is working to overcome the AC load that is not there. I take
the AC is not working well either.

Don't know what the other problem is - probably not related, or you have a
leak in the intake tract. That can also cause a high idle and poor running as
mixture is thrown off as well as losing boost.

My idle is often high these days. I have a few

problems which include 'bogging down' or lack of boost

at about 4K, but one thing I noticed is that the high

idle seems to be connected to the climate control in

some way.

Yah, I know that's as crazy as the dash lights being

connected to the license plate lights, but normally I

have the climate control on 'Auto'. To save the

battery when I pulled up to a red light I turned

climate control to 'Off'. My idle immediately dropped

to 950. Turned CC to 'Auto' and the idle sped up to

1400. 'Off' - 950.

Go Figure.

Cheers
