**** I'm reading up on the code reading procedure. Will try that next time.
But, like I wrote to Kneale, the car started after I injected starter fluid.
It was cranking over without firing till I squirted in the starter fluid.
Once it got a whiff of the ether, it started hitting on some cylinders and
about a second later all cylinders started firing. This kind of eliminates
the Hall sensor, no? I may visit my local junkyard and get a spare hall
effect sensor and cold start injector.
Whats the trick to taking out the Hall sensor?
I'm inclined to think its fuel starvation during a "no-start" start. The
engine does start, but quickly dies. After that, it only cranks.
I'm theorizing here, but it sounds like a lean condition during start. Once
a few cylinders catch, the sensor plate rises and more gas is introduced
thru the injectors. If I can catch it right, and doodle with the gas pedal,
the engine will clear up and start running normally.
If system pressure was a bit low, this would account for the symptoms. Just
not quite the right amount of gas to start the engine.
Also, the cold start valve may be having issues. I'll check it out today.
Will also attempt to measure the fuel system pressure.
If I dont come up with anything today, I'll wire up the cold start valve
with a manual on-off switch, so that I can force extra gas during starts.
