Just wanted to point out (I did this once on a MO to NH drive) that 
Canada is in the way.  Hopping the border at Niagara is a nice 
sight-see, but you might even want to go slightly north first and take 
the 17. (Montreal - Ottawa - eventually coming back stateside at the 
place only known to crossword puzzlers, Sault Ste Marie, to the UP of MI.)

Ought to be fun, foreign country, funny money, strange accents, border 
security and all.  Shouldn't be any further than driving south of Lake 
Michigan.
