The probe was never a true ford though.  It stunk of mazda cross
platforming, and while the exterior styling was excellent compared to
it's Japanese counterparts, it wasn't up to the standards of what a lot
of people would come to expect from a Ford sports car.  I would have
expected something Vulcan/SHO-Yamaha powered at that time, since they
were kinda looking to do that anyways.
