Towing quattros with a dolly

I'm just curious, has anyone towed a first generation quattro on a dolly a long distance? I'm just curious, not planning on doing it or anything. I'm talking a 4000Q or urq, with the oped diffs with lockers. 
   
  I personally have done it before, but only about 30 miles. No damage was done. But, obviously 1000 miles may very well be a different story.
   
  Oh, and I'm quite aware of what the manual says, so no need to quote that for me :)
