Measuring current of CPA/R??

I am trying to measure the current at the control pressure actuator/regulator on my 85 4ktq project and I am trying to figure out exactly how to measure the current in series.
   
  If I engineer a break in the positive wire and use the DMM to bridge the gap then would I be measuring current??  
   
  It's been a long time since my technology class in high school....
