That's a good place to start, besides making sure the starter
connections are set up right.

Well, besides the starter and alternator, which ground to the block,
there is usually a heavy ground attached to a tranny bolt (type 44 might
be different?). The tranny should ground to the engine. There are
usually some brown ECU wires grounded to the intake manifold. The OXS
heater ground is via the exhaust system to the head (on 3 wire OXS).
Most of the block/head mounted sensors are grounded through the block
and head, too.
Does that "little ground strap" to the engine mount look heavy enough to
be the return path for the starter current? Is the engine mount well
grounded to the block?
Anyway, that's all I can think of right off the top of my head.
