I agree. This seems more like a job for a timesert since they have a
seat at the top and lock in place at the bottom. http://

Inserts are in fact stronger than the original threads if used in an
aluminum part but I'm not sure that the same can be said for a steel
part.
All things considered, I'd be swapping out the hub. Of course I
already have a few spares laying around. As usual, call Chris at
