I live in Seattle, but I just saw this on Craigslist and have shot the 
seller an email. If it's still available by next weekend, I may well go 
down and have a look.

 From following various car-related listservs over the years, I know I 
wouldn't be the first person ever to buy a car out of state, but I've 
never done it before. Any listers in the Portland area who'd be willing 
to look it over, take it it to a shop (recommmendations here?) for a 
pre-purchase inspection, whatever? Naturally, if anyone gives me a hand 
with this, I'd compensate them in one form or another. I may be able to 
take a vacation day on such short notice, but that's not assured. Thank
