Early type 44s came with GM compressors and later ones are Nippondenso.
The simplest thing is to replace with the same type.  This avoids
having to swap other components like mounting brackets, hoses, and
who knows what else.

Remanufactured ones are available, I believe.  I haven't priced any for
the type 44, but sometimes new ones may not cost that much more.

The clutch may or may not be available as a separate spare part.  You
should check with an auto AC specialist.
