Talking to an Audi rep, and Diesels in the US

This has more or less been beaten to death. It's a chicken and egg
scenario. The diesel fuel used in the US is made from a sour crude
which produces a high sulfur content fuel. The diesel fuel used in the
rest of the world is from sweet crude which produces a lower sulfur
content fuel. The latest generation of diesel engines are designed to
run on the low sulfur fuel, and in fact the latest round of
advancements in diesel engine design require low sulfur diesel fuel.
Auto manufacturers will not import the latest gen diesel engines to
the US because we do not sell the correct fuel for the engines.
Refineries will not produce the low sulfur fuel because there's no
market for it. Who goes first?
