cleaning the carpet

I like your cleaning regimen. Ought to get the job done. Are
there such things as hand applied dies (black) to darken
the more weathered bits after cleaning?

The battery cable project was sort of a big deal. The parts
list was long. There is the cable; I had to buy a big spool
of it to get the high temp, flexible, SAE rated cable I wanted.
(Want to buy some?) Then I had to figure out how to terminate
it at each end. This involved ordering the right crimp terminals
and tooling. One must also consider how the wiring to
the vehicle's main fuse panel connects to this circuit. In
my case, the factory made this connection by crimping
two 6.0 sq. mm wires into the positive battery cable
along with the main cable. I had to take this extra wire
cross-section into account when I sized the crimp-on
battery terminal. Also, in my case, I added a 4 AWG
cable into this same crimp to supply the future sound
system. It all added up to a terminal sized to crimp onto
a 3/0 cable. Worked well. Bottom line is that the positive
battery termination is the key item to be thought out
in advance.

Up front, I used a standard 1/0 lug terminal, 5/16" stud
size for the M8 stud of the starter. I had to remove the
right head light, the air filter cover and the rear turbo heat
shield to gain access. I also obtained some 5/8" ID
silicone coated fiberglass wire covering from a surplus
outfit to provide heat protection, etc., in the engine
compartment area, similar to the factory arrangement.
Larger cable clamps were also required. But, basically,
the cable routed through all the wire guides just fine.
