Today, I was cruising along the expressway under heavy
rain and all of the sudden, the '85 QSW starts to slow
down quite a bit even with my foot on the gas pedal.
WTH??
I pulled over and engine is running rough and
sputtering and I can't rev it up, even with the gas
pedal to the floor at times.
Popped the hood and took a look around, especially the
distributor, which I just replaced with that of the
nicely running '87 QSW.
Turned engine off and started it up again and problem
still persisted.
Turned engine on again and this time it catches up
fine and revs nicely before it starts to crap again.
Went back to the engine bay and this time I played
with the throttle switch by clicking the switch as
when on full throttle and then manually revved engine
and it worked fine.
I zip-tied the switch (while I replace it) and now the
car revs fine.
So bad throttle switch?
What's its function?
Any adverse effects by running the engine with the
throttle switch zip-tie?
BTW, I was not running the AC.
Thanks in advance,
-Louis
