David and Chris, why do you think I'm still holding on
to my OLD VW QSWs?

Because they're relatively easy to work on and I can
do most of the work myself.

A month ago, I R&R the starter on the '85 QSW in about
20 minutes without even raising the vehicle. Both my
brother and neighbor were standing by and were quite
impressed with both, time it took and accessibility.

I guess it helps that I'm in good shape with no beer
gut :)

Anyway, between the 2 QSWs, they key me on the road;
and that's 115 miles each day five or six days a week.
When one has a quirk to sort out, I drive the other
while I fix said quirk and so forth.

True, not a nice and spanking new car but so far it
works for me and I don't have to worry about a car
payment nor dings on the gleaming perfect paint :)

Well dings maybe, especially on the '85 since it's in
nice shape.

As for accessibility in new Audis, Benzs and BMWs,
forget it.

-Regards,

LDC
