I know why Porsche built the Cayenne. I don't agree with their decision,
along the same
lines as Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, Maser or Jag building an SUV.

As for one stupid dealer stocking 30 Caymans, that's just dumb. The Cayman
is more of a
specialty car than the Boxster or the 911. I worked at one of the largest
Porsche dealers in
the Northeast and they never stocked many Boxsters, Caymans or 911s. The
reason? Because
most customers wanted their cars built to spec.

The Cayenne was the exception- a lot of those customers didn't have a
problem buying out of
stock.

Porsche offers a ton of customization options from the factory, as long as
you're willing to pay for
the privilege. That's something that they are very good at doing.

If only Audi offered that service, I'd probably be looking to lease an A4
3.2 6-speed with a few choice
options (sport suspension, 18" 5-spoke wheels, bluetooth and HIDs) and an
unusual color combo
(Moro Blue with Amaretto interior and Burled Walnut trim).
