Fine tooth combs are worthless for testing hoses ;-) Cap the system
and pressurize it using an air tank or compressor, and listen for
leaks. Chances are within seconds you'll have an "ah ha!" moment,
and notice a fine coating of oil and dirt around the failed area of
the hose.

Start with the simple and easy checks, then work your way to exotic
problems like "loose turbo impellers" LAST. If you have the Bentley
manuals, follow the diagnostic charts to the best of your ability
(ie, with as few assumptions as possible.)

Run through the self-check procedure to check all the solenoids,
especially the wastegate frequency valve, after checking all the
hoses under pressure.
