high-output alternators?

I've finally had it with my "ultranator"; voltage swings are back and
the alternator struggles to match load under almost any
circumstance. Utter garbage.

Bosch apparently makes higher-output alternators for many vehicles-
even Asian cars. Some are rated as high as 200A(!) Sounds great,
right? Well, except they don't list an applications for various Audi
models I tried. I looked for the 200q20v, and a '88 5000 CSTQ
(figured it was more common.)

I've been told to look into Motor City Remanufacturing, Iraggi
Alternators, Excessiveamperage, Ohio Generator, Wrangler, or Stinger
by someone who does audio equipment installs, and I'll be chasing
these leads down.

Has anyone had success fitting other non-Bosch alternators? And what
other european cars use the same alternator style? Are Bosch
alternators for european cars pretty much the same?

I can't remember off the top of my head- what's the standard rating
on the 200q20v? I know it was more than previous years, but by how
much? Is it 110A or more?

Brett
