high-output alternators?

Brett,

I would definitely check to see if your battery cable isn't the  
culprit.  110 amp is for the 200q20v and the power-hungry V8.   
Methinks you might have a corrosion problem with your battery cable  
splice (unless you've already addressed that).  Only thing that draws  
serious amperage IMO is that radiator fan at hurricane speed ;-)
