high-output alternators?

The only wiring I'm worried about is the battery/main splice, and  
only the splice.  I did test voltages once and found there wasn't a  
staggering difference between alternator post and battery voltage.

Copper is very expensive these days; we're running out of it.

It's so expensive that a client of mine who does business in  
Argentina can't keep his phones and internet connection going because  
locals keep digging up the cable and stealing it for the copper to  
sell for scrap.  Sad on so many levels.
