high-output alternators?

In my 90 200, the XM radio constantly cuts out because of low 
voltage.  Sometimes I'll be a mile or so down the road before it turns on, 
and at lights when the fan turns on the XM turns off.  The radio still 
turns on, and I've never had a problem stating it, however.
