Aha! I know what your problem is, again BTDT.

The stock turbo doesn't flow well enough for increased boost levels at high
rpm. If you watch your analog gauge (you DID install one before turning up
the boost right?) you should notice that while you are running 1.6bar (you
did turn it up that high I assume) at mid range, the boost will drop off
after ~4500rpm until arround ~5700rpm its down to about 1.0-1.1. Loosing
.5bar boost make the top end feel like crap.

Also I had to port the hell out of my cyl head, IM and exhaust manifold to
get my 10v to flow worth anything over 6500rpm. With the 10v the top end
will never be quite as good as it should be, but with the right tricks you
can get it pretty decent.

BTW/FYI - I'm not sure about the MC-2 since the compression is higher, but
my MC-1 would take whatever boost the turbo would dish out when tuned right
on 93 octane. With the exhaust system that means 1.6bar, without the exhaust
after the downpipe it would run 1.8bar. That said, you are really waaaaaaay
outside of what that turbo is designed for and on anything but a cold day
it's pointless to run past ~1.4bar due to the turbo heating the charge past
the acceptable limit. On a cold day the intercooler fixes this issue.
